A Day in the Life of a BiG Volunteer

BiG helps us to develop key life skills that generate a healthy mindset and positive routines. Follow Eva, a BiG volunteer, through a typical lockdown day to see how she stays motivated!

7:30 Morning run- I try to get out the house at least once a day for some exercise. Whether it be a socially distanced walk with a friend, or a quick run around my area, I find this helps massively with my motivation and mental health!

8:00 (brownish) smoothie!- I have a smoothie for breakfast to start my day off right. It’s so important to get all your vitamins during the winter, plus its delicious!

9:00 Morning meeting with BiG! At 9:00, the BiG team comes together on zoom to discuss our plans for the week. Although we are all working from home, its great to be able to see and catch up with everyone virtually. It also reminds me that we are all in the same boat!

13:00 Lunch- I try to make healthy meals throughout the day! Even if i’m busy, I think its important to make time to refuel yourself. Energy doesn’t come out of thin air!

14:00 Uni work- I am a full time student, so as well as working for BiG, it’s important for me to organise time to focus on my studies. Learning to balance both responsibilities has been hugely valuable for my organisational and management skills.

19:00 Dinner with the family- I am living at home at the moment, so dinner is a time where I can come together with family and catch up on the day.

21:00 Read- I spend most of my day in front of some type of screen! So If I have the energy, I will put time aside to read before I go to bed. I find that making time away from your phone is really helpful when trying to relax. It also helps you disconnect from reality abit, talk of COVID can be all encompassing sometimes.
